Greenfield West Allis Now – Business leaders from Milwaukee and Waukesha plan to protest a proposal to stop work on the Interstate 94 east-west corridor across the street from where a state committee will hold a hearing on the plan.
Governor Scott Walker’s proposed state budget would divert funding from finishing work on I-94 into Milwaukee toward finishing I-94 construction south of the city.
The business leaders, organized into a group called I-94 East-West Econ Connect, will hold a news conference at at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Hampton Inn & Suites Milwaukee West, 8201 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis. The State Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee will hold a budget hearing at 10 a.m. at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Expo.
The business leaders will say they will stress that not finishing the east-west I-94 work would hurt economic development, waste billions of dollars and threaten safety on the road.
